Tilinga

Cf. Tiling (see). The origin is not entirely clear. Probably Germanic surn., cf. German Tilling(er) ¹, Tiling ².♦ It is more likely that it is of Lithuanian origin, derived from lit. tilingúoti „linguoti“ (LKŽe). This possibility is also supported by the fact that the common word and surname Ti̇̀linga coincide with the place of use - Giedraičiai apylinkes.
