Trimitis

The origin is unclear. There is hardly any reason to connect with lit. trimiṫ̀tas „toks pučiamasis muzikos instrumentas“ (DLKŽ). Perhaps distorted from *Trimetis or something, which we could associate with lit. trimẽtis „trejų metų“ (ibid).♦ Rather distorted from Trinitis, Trinytis (see).
