Etymology
Cf. Tūra (see). The origin of the root tur-, tür- is unclear. Perhaps cf. Brus Typ, Typaў, Russian, Ukrainian Typ ¹, Russ. Tуpъ ², Tуp, Tуpoв ³, Polish. Tur ⁴ and so on. In one other case, it is possible to connect with Lieut. have „būti savininku, valdyti; būti gavusiam, įgijusiam, pasiekusiam; laikyti and others“ (LDL) or similar.
