Etymology
Cf. Týrius (see) and possibly Ti̇̀ras, Ti̇̀rius (see). The origin is not entirely clear. Perhaps to be connected with lit. pure „plikas, tuščias; grynas, skaidrus, giedras; doras, nekaltas“ (DLKŽ) or similar. But cf. German Thier, Thier(r)y, Thiry, Thyri, Thiere ¹. RESEARCH Kn 2 - see Pure.
