Compound example: Vai̇̃z-girdas. Cf. lit. surn. Image (see). These surn. the origin of the image of the first sand is unclear. Possible origin from vais- ¹. However, the surnames Vai̇̃zgirdas and Vaizgė́la may have evolved later from *Vai̇̃šgirdas (see Vai̇̃šnoras), *Vaišgėla (see Vai̇̃žgėla). For hear- see Gi̇̀rdvainis.
