Venys

Cf. Venius (see). This surn. are derived from the baptismal name, most likely from the Belarusian or Eastern Slavic variant Bенедикт of Benedicṫ̀kt. Just as we have Benỹs, Bẽnius (see) from Benedi̇̀kto, the genders Venỹs, Vènius are possible from Venedi̇̀kto. In addition, surn. Venỹs and so on. may also come from the name Venjami̇nas, cf. Brus Bеня, Bенька: Bеньямiн ¹.
