Vytas

Cf. Vità, Vi̇̀tas, Vitis, Výtis, Vytỹs (see). The surnames Vỹtas, Výtis can be abbreviations of the compound personal name with the first syllable vy-, usually, apparently, from Výtauto. The origin of surnames with vit- is less clear. Often they can be later changed from surnames with vy-, but not infrequently they can be derived from names of Latin origin Vi̇̀tas (Latv. Vitus), Vitãlijus or the like.
