Etymology
The origin is unclear. Cf. lit. sabalióti „imti, liesti“ (LKŽK) sabalióti „sunkiai kalbėti svetima kalba“ (ibid.) or similar, bRuss. Шабала, Шабаль, Russian. Шабала, Шабалoв ¹, German. Schabbel ², Schabel ³. But it may be that the pvd changed later. from Sabalis (see).
