See still Shamatà. ♦ Due to the abundance and prevalence in various places, the possibility of lending is questionable. Rather, it should be connected with lit. this year „Kurs ūsus pastatęs, tas šẽmeta“, this year „greitai valgyti“ (LKŽe). In addition, they are considered to have originated from the double-stemmed pers.n. Se-metas, the meaning of the first stem se- has faded, and the second me- is associated with lit. mèsti, mèta or mètas „laikas“ ⁵.
