Škėma

The origin is not entirely clear. Maybe from surn. *Skėma, *Skėmas, which we could associate with lit. shield „šipulys, skutas, skiautė, gabalas“ (LKŽ XII 808). For š: s cf. lit. škem̃bras: skem̃bras, škem̃brė: skem̃brė (LKŽK) and so on.
