Šnapštys

Cf. Schnapps (see). The origin is not entirely clear. Perhaps surn. of nickname origin, connected with lit. whisper „šnarėti, šlamėti; kuždomis kalbėti“ (DLKŽ) or whisper „sunkiai kvėpuoti pro nosį; sunkiai eiti; šnarpščiant miegoti“ (ibid.).
