Etymology
Cf. Uka, Ùkas (see). The origin of the surnames is not entirely clear. Perhaps it can be related to Lieut. ū̃kas „migla, ūkana“ (DLKŽ), ū́kauti „ūksėti, šūkauti; protarpiais rėkti“, ū̃kas „ūžimas, ūžesys, triukšmas; aidas“ (ibid.). Although there may be other origins. Cf. German Ucko, Uckel(e), Uken ¹, etc.
