Etymology
Derives as a dithematic nickname from fused Lith. ū̃kas “fog, mist” and kalkė “lime, chalk.” (DLKŽ) The second stem may be related to reduced kal “to forge/strike”. Cf. Ūkas, Ukelskis, Ūkalkiskis, Kalvis.
