Bempreikšas
BEMPREIKŠAS
Etymology
Cf. Bempreikszas, Bempreikszis, Benpreikszas ¹. Most likely a compound surn., the second part of which is lit. appellative predicate „užkurys“. The first syllable is possibly personal, but it is not entirely clear whether bem- or ben: Benpreikšas > Bempreikšas, cf. Benpreikšas (see): Benỹs, Bèmas. Hence, surn. The initial meaning of Bempreišš was approximately as follows: „Benio (ar Bemo) užkurys“. See also Bruñpreikšas, cf. Beržzentis (see).
