Kybartas

Cf. Ki̇̀-bart (see). It is considered a compound personal name ¹. For ky- cf. lit. surn. Ký-mantas, Ki̇̀-mantas (see); lit. pers.n. Ký-klauas, Ký-tautas, Ký-vainas ². Sando's ky-origin is unclear. For bart- - see Bargáila. This interpretation of the surname Ký-bartas seems quite plausible. Without questioning it, however, we would like to draw attention to the parallels of Germanic anthroponyms, which, by the way, may not be only typological, cf. German Kybart, Kibart, Kibert, Kiebert, Kiepert, Kiewert, etc. ³, Köbert, Kübart, Küwert ⁴. See also Cyber.
