Cf. Bean (see). Most likely, these are compound surn., the first syllable of which is connected with lit. pupà (see Pùpius), and the second - with lit. to drink „linksmam šokinėti, bėgioti, siausti, išdykauti (pOPr. apie gyvulius)“ (LKŽ VII 28).
