Most likely, a compound example of nickname origin, the first syllable of which should be connected with lit. pupà (see Pùpius), and the second - with lit. lèsti „imti maistą snapu; žirnius, uogas ar kitus daiktus valgyti and others“ (LKŽ VII 378).
