Vaidotas

Cf. Vai̇̃date (see). It is believed to be a derivative of the suffix -ot- from vaid- ¹. Although it can also be a compound example: Váid-otas. For role- see Vai̇̃dginas, Vaidas, due to sando -ot- cf. lit. Mi̇̀n-iot, Tól-iot, Vi̇̀l-iot, etc. ². See also Bi̇̀rjotas, Jótautas.♦ The statement that there may be a compound surn. is very doubtful, because jot- may have evolved from -iot-, but not -ot-.
