Aggregate surn. from Vem̃-fLatv. Cf. Vam̃buta, Viñbuta (see). For but- see Bùtauts. The origin of Sando vem- is doubtful, as it is not clear whether it is from *vam- < *van- (see Vam̃butas) or from *vim- < *vin- (see Viñbutas).
